To help promote the fight against corruption, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines will stage the I Run for Integrity Towards a New Philippines on Feb. 5 at the Terraces Ayala Center Cebu.
The Cebu leg, the first in Visayas and Mindanao, will be the sequel of the run first launched in Manila last May which gathered 5,000 runners.
"We bring it here in Cebu because most attendees of the first run were from Manila and we’re trying to reach out to people from the Vismin area because after all, this involves a national issue," said Cahea Ang of ECCP.
The run is one of the activities under the integrity initiative, a campaign led by private sectors aimed at diminishing, if not fully eradicating, the cycle of corruption in the Philippines.
Support
They will have the 3K, 6K and 12K divisions and organizers are calling on the active participation from the private sector and to all groups in Cebu to take a strong stand against the issue. They have already sent invitations to groups in the business, academe, and youth sectors and most have shown a positive response.
They are expecting more than 1,000 runners in this cause-oriented run which will have programs related to its advocacy before and after the race.
Registration is ongoing until Feb. 2 and the fee is P250 for all categories. It covers a singlet, certificate and a few items from the sponsors. The top winners will receive cash prizes and medals.
Runners may sign up at the ECCP office at the third floor of C.L. Center, Juana Osmeña street corner Llorente Street and at the Chris Sports Branches in Ayala and SM City Cebu.
