CEBU CITY – All eyes turn to “the Queen City of the South” this January 12 to 14 at Crossroads Cebu as creativity is on full display at Crisscrossings: Creative Convergence 2018. Different creative communities in and around the Visayas will come together in a series of creative talks and workshops, art installations, a Cebu music congress, an artist showcase gig, as well as a Creators' Market.
On all days of the gathering, the Creators' Market will be happening from 11:00am until 8:00pm. The amazing driftwood art created by British-born sculptor James Doran-Webb will also be on display from 10:00am until 10:00pm from Friday to Sunday. A Food Market @ MATIC will be held at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads on January 12 and 13 from 2:00pm to 11:00pm. The first two days will also see a free Spartan Workout occurs on Friday at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and at Crossroads from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
A Crochet 1.0 Workshop will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on January 12 at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads. From 4:00pm until 6:00pm, a talk and panel discussion on making Cebu a creative city as well as the challenges of making it happen will happen at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads. That will be followed by an open air short film screening at Crossroads presented by Sutukil Studios until 11:00pm. For the foodies, a Bento Art Demo will be concurrently happening at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads from 2:00pm until 10:00pm. To end the first day of festivities, The Distillery at Crossroads will host the #CCX2018 Opening Party from 9:00pm onwards.
On Saturday, January 13, GRID Magazine will be holding an Open Call at MAYA Mexican Restaurant from 9:00am till 3:00pm. Meanwhile, a Spoken Word Bootcamp will be presented with Juanita Romualdez at the Qube Gallery, Crossroads Cebu from 3:00pm till 5:00pm. A SPACE Cebu will host Brain Share: a Creative Entrepreneurship Series featuring technology; fashion and furniture; food; and film, animation, and visual art. From 3:00pm till 4:00pm, a Macrame Workshop will take place at the ECCP Materials Innovation Centre, DOST 7 Complex across Crossroads. At the same venue, from 5:00pm until 6:00pm, a 2D Animation Workshop will be held. Grow Cebu Music will present The Congress at A SPACE Cebu from 3:00pm until 6:00pm while the Crossroads Cebu Parking Lot will see the Grow Cebu Music Artist Showcase from 8:00 till 11:00pm.
On the final day of Crisscrossings: Creative Convergence 2018, an Ecobrick Starter Workshop takes place at MAYA Mexican Restaurant from 1:00 till 3:00pm. A SPACE Cebu will host talks at 10:30am (Building a Creative Ecosystem), 1:00pm (The Future of Storytelling), and 2:45pm (The Art of Compromise). Head over to the Qube Gallery at Crossroads Cebu from 3:00pm till 5:00pm for a Papercutting 101 Workshop by boredandcrafty. A SPACE Cebu will then hold “_Talks: Creative Confessions Crisscrossings Edition” at 4:15pm. Another open air film screening will take place at Crossroads Cebu at 6:00pm as “Sutukil Selects.” Finally, MAYA Mexican Restaurant will host the #CCX2018 Closing Party from 9:00pm onwards.
The weekend promises to be a packed with activities, workshops, talks, and parties when Crisscrossings: Creative Convergence 2018 commences in Cebu!
