PEZA Signs Pledge Vs Corruption

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recently vowed to support the campaign against corruption by signing into the European Chamber of Commerce ofthe Philippines (ECCP) and Makati Business Club led Integrity Initiative project.

In simple ceremony held at the PEZA office in Pasay City, director general Ulia De Lima said that by signing the Integrity Pledge they are highlighting their special economic zones as prime models on howthe Philippines handle investors in the country.

The Integrity Pledge is a formal and concrete expression of commitment by companies and organizations that they will abide by ethical business practices and support a national campaign against corruption.

According to De Lima she expects all the 2,700 PEZA locators in the countrywhich currently employs more than 800,000 Filipinos to follow their example and individually sign the Integrity Pledge within the year.

For his pan ECCP, vice president for external affairs Henry Schumacher said they are delighted to finally have PEZA sign the pledge.

Since its launching in 2010 the Integrity Initiative project has attracted more than 1,000 companies in the Philippines along with 17 government agencies.

The projfect aims to assist the government combat corruption, provide a level playing field for investors and minimize unemployment in the country.
