MANILA, Sept. 12 (PNA) — To spur the development of the solar market in the Philippines, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, together with the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), organized the 2nd German Solar Training Week that will run from September 23 to 27, 2013.
Seven German companies will provide professional training to their partners.
SMA AG, Schletter GmbH, Conergy AG, Hoppekke GmbH, Qinous, fosera GmbH and HID-Europe are sending their experts to build capacity within their partner companies and educate other stakeholders such as the Department of Energy (DOE) on solar solutions for the on-grid and off-grid areas.
Topics include PV inverter technology, solar mounting systems, project development, energy storage and off-grid solar technology.
The solar market is growing in the Philippines and with the release of the feed-in-tariffs and the Net Metering Rules and Interconnection Standards by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the regulatory process is well under way.
The industry experiences growing demand in the residential and commercial rooftop segment as well as in the integration of photovoltaics (PVs) in island grids and for off-grid resorts.
Thus, solar energy becomes available to many Philippine households and develops into a key pillar of the future Philippine energy system.
The “renewables – Made in Germany” Initiative has conducted trips and brought German companies to the Philippines that resulted in initial business match-making.
These relationships were further deepened during the 1st German Solar Training Week (GSTW) in October 2012, where 200 participants underwent technical and project development training.
The 1st GSTW was very well received by the Philippine companies and resulted in a better informed energy sector and appreciation of German technology and engineering.
Based on this positive experience, the initiative organizes the 2nd GSTW in September 2013.
Representatives from the media are invited to a press conference on September 23, 2013, 11:30 am–1:30 pm, to be provided with new insights on the exciting developments in the solar market in the Philippines and Germany.
Experts from the Philippines and Germany will beavailable for questions and answers.
Director Mario Marasigan of the DOE-Renewable Energy Management Bureau will talk about the Philippine plans for solar technology.
Tetchi Capellan, President of the Philippine Solar Power Alliance, will outline the growing opportunities for the Philippine solar industry.
Dr. Guenther Matschuck, President of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will discuss the contribution of German companies to the development of a thriving solar market in the Philippines.
Martial Beck, General Manager of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, will describe lessons from Europe on the development of a successful renewable energy industry.
Furthermore, representatives from the German companies attending the 2nd German Solar Training Week will also be present for Q&A on specific topics.
The training coincides with the “PowerTrends” exhibition at SMX from September 25 to 27.
At the renewables – Made in Germany booth, German companies will exhibit the latest renewable energy technologies and solutions to the Philippine public.
A “German Day” at the renewables – Made in Germany booth will also be hosted on September 26 with presentations of German experts on solar, biomass, biogas and energy efficiency solutions.
Interested companies can avail tickets for the 2nd German Solar Training Week from GPCCI at info@gpcci.org. (PNA)
