Pusong Hero for Net Zero: Run for Climate Action!
Youth-Led Fun Run • 3 August 2025 • National University – Dasmariñas Campus, Cavite
How will you shape your future in the face of climate change? On 3 August 2025, thousands of young Filipinos will flood the tree-lined avenues of NU Dasmariñas for the first Pusong Hero for Net Zero Fun Run—a vibrant, youth-led rally toward a net-zero Philippines. Local governments, private-sector champions, schools, and everyday citizens will lace up together, showing the nation that bold climate action starts with a single step.
The story that sparked the run
Last May, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and National University campuses in Laguna, Dasmariñas, and Lipa challenged students to create a logo that could ignite climate hope. Seventy-nine teams—nearly 400 young creatives—answered.
The winning mark, "Pusong Hero for Net Zero," by NU Lipa students Allen Christian Salvatierra, Maria Antonilla Camacho, Alexis Dequino, Jamaica Lopez, and Matthew Sarmiento, captures a nation's heartbeat for the planet:
- Heart-shaped frame—empathy at the core of action
- Flag colors & three stars—Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao united
- Inside icons—Bangui Wind Farm, Chocolate Hills, bayanihan scenes, thriving farms, coral reefs: everything we must protect
Their message is clear: "United by heart, driven by hope, and rooted in the strength of our land, we call on Climate Heroes to rise."The fun run becomes the first public stride under this new emblem!
Why the urgency?
Super typhoons, scorching droughts, and rising seas already mark our daily headlines. Yet the world can still halve emissions by 2030—if everyone acts now. This event aligns with the UN-backed Race to Zero, the world's largest coalition of non-state actors committed to that goal. As the Philippines' first and only Race to Zero Accelerator, ECCP is mobilising a groundswell of practical solutions—and this run is the starting gun.
Why Cavite?
Cavite is an industrial powerhouse—electronics, food and beverage, chemicals, automotive, construction materials, and more. Brands such as Unilever, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Stanley Electric, and Toyota power local employment and national exports. A fun run in the heart of this dynamic province:
- puts climate visibility where manufacturing emissions meet opportunity;
- invites factories, suppliers, and logistics hubs to pilot low-carbon practices;
- creates a replicable model for other Philippine industrial zones.
When Cavite companies lead, other cities follow.
